FTP Communication

File transfers should be fast, smooth and secure. Let one of the FTP service simply automate your sending processes.

FTP Communication

Solutions using FTP communication are aimed at companies with many files to transfer and which need to automate the process.

FTP via Internet

File transfers should be fast, smooth and secure. With our FTP service via Internet, they will be.

FTP via Internet is a communications solution for secure file transfer between your finance system and Bankgirot. The service has been developed for larger companies which require an automated process for file transfer.

This is how it works

With FTP via Internet, the password process is automatically dealt with when the system sends a payment to Bankgirot. This means that you do not need to approve every piece of payment information sent to and from Bankgirot. It is flexible if the business has large payment volumes.

How the security works

Your finance system contains the basis for what you want to pay. For example, this could be payments to suppliers or salary payments to employees. All files with payment assignments sent to Bankgirot have electronic alteration protection, a so-called ‘seal’.

In order to protect the information sent, a VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection is set up. VPN is a technique for creating secure communication between two computers via the internet using encryption. We tend to speak of a VPN tunnel being set up. Inside the VPN tunnel, all files are transferred between the company and Bankgirot. The tunnel protects data from observation and intrusion by outsiders. No one other than those sitting at the other end of the tunnel can have access to the files when they are sent over the internet.

The actual transfer within the VPN tunnel is in accordance with FTP (File Transfer Protocol), a general standard for transferring files.

What you need in order to start using the FTP via Internet service:

  •  A finance system
  • An agreement with your bank
  • An internet connection
  • A VPN-adapted firewall
  • Software for TCP/IP FTP
  • A fixed IP address
  • Software for alteration protection

FTPS

FTPS is a communications solution for secure file transfer between accounting information systems and Bankgirot.

FTPS (FTP SSL/TLS) is a form of communication that enables:

  • secure file transfer between your accounting information system and Bankgirot
  • automatic password procedures with anti-tampering protection when your system sends a payment to Bankgirot
  • file transfers to Bankgirot with FTPS that are performed over the internet in a secure channel (SSL/TLS) between the client and server.

FTPS is suitable for large companies that have large payment volumes and need to adapt and automatise their communications according to their own payment methods.

SFTP

SFTP is suitable for companies with large payment volumes and the need to adapt and automate the communication method to their internal payment procedures.

SFTP (Secure Shell FTP with SSH2 protocol) is a communication method that entails:

  • Secure file transfer between your accounting system and Bankgirot
  • Tamper protection via HMAC or NexusSäkdata seal in conjunction with your system sending a payment to Bankgirot

SFTP is suitable for companies with large payment volumes and the need to adapt and automate the communication method to their internal payment procedures. With SFTP files are transferred to Bankgirot over the Internet via an interception-protected channel (SFTP SSH2) between client and the server.

Connection via eg TCP/IP FTP

Connection via eg TCP/IP FTP is a communications solution for secure file transfer via a fixed line between your finance system and Bankgirot. The service has been developed for large businesses that need an automated process for file transfer. This is how it works.

TCP/IP FTP means that the files are sent via the TCP/IP protocol, and is a standard product for file transfer. It forms part of all UNIX systems and is available for most computers, from PCs to IBM’s mainframes.

Connection takes place in one of the following ways:

  • Fixed line
  • SNIX

When a fixed line will be used, this must be ordered from a telecom supplier before Bankgirot is able to configure the connection.

The payment file is created in the appropriate format for the relevant bankgiro service. The file is alteration protected and is sent in accordance with the instructions found in the Supplier’s Directions.

With TCP/IP FTP, the password process is automatically dealt with when the system sends a payment to Bankgirot. This means that you do not have to approve each sending and collection of payment information to and from Bankgirot. This is a flexible solution if the business has large payment volumes.

How the security works
In your finance system, there are instructions for what you want to pay. For example, this could be payments to suppliers or salary payments to employees. All files with payment instructions sent to Bankgirot include electronic alteration protection, a so-called ‘seal’.

Connect:Direct

Connect:Direct is a product from IBM that is available for e.g. other IBM mainframes with operating systems such as MVS, VM and VSE, UNIX, OS/2, Windows, etc. Connect:Direct can use the communications protocol SNA or TCP/IP.

Connection is via one of the following ways:

  • Fixed line
  • X.25 (Datapack) PVC (fixed line)
  • SVC (called up)
  • "Switched Subarea Dial"
  • SNIX Service from Tele2 for SNI via Token Ring
  • Via third party network, e.g. via IBM’s network
  • LAN to LAN Only TCP/IP to the customer’s LAN via a router on Bankgirot’s LAN.

If tele-transfer is to be carried out via a fixed line, this must be ordered from a tele-supplier before Bankgirot can configure the connection.

Payment files are created with the format which indicates agreed bankgiro service. The file is alteration protected and sent in accordance with the instructions found in Supply guidance for this means of communication.
